What is an IBAN number?

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number. It converts your existing account number into an internationally standardized format. It contains details about the country, bank and local account number, hence, making it globally unique and recognizable. IBAN, being an international standard for identifying bank accounts, shall facilitate the automatic processing of money transfers by improving the speed, accuracy and reliability of your payment transactions.

FAQs

IBAN for Meezan consists of 24 characters as per the following composition:

  • First two letters will be Country Code (e.g: PK for Pakistan)
  • Next two digits will be check digits (validates the correctness and integrity of the bank account)
  • Next four letter will be SWIFT Code of the Bank
  • Next two digits will be zeroes: 00
  • Next four digits will be your branch code
  • Last 10 digits will be customer’s account number

Example:

Existing 10-digits MBL account number: 1234567890 & Branch code: 0101

Equivalent IBAN number: PK10MEZN0001011234567890

IBAN number is printed on the Bank Statements sent to customer on half yearly interval.
